1. The One-Minute TIP

We all have the potential to live masterful, magnificent
lives but many of us lead lives that are like an old
Rembrandt painting, covered with generations of film and
dust and grime. At the moment, the painting may not seem
valuable, or even attractive, but underneath it remains as
vibrant as ever. To uncover your magnificence, take time to
wipe away whatever gets in your way.

2. Welcome Notes

I confess, I am one of the luckiest men alive! This week I
had the chance to spend time in a magnificent retreat
center - an old, 19th century estate on over 1000 acres! -
with people who are absolutely dedicated to making life
better.

We laughed and danced and hugged and celebrated. We hiked
and argued and compared notes about what works in life, and
what doesn't. Some of us played golf, while others took
naps or went sailing, and then we came together to make our
lives even richer!

For all of you who were not able to join us, please mark
your calendars and plan to join us next year, but also know
that you, too, are among the most blessed people in
history. You are educated, you have a computer, you are
free to live as you please, and that makes us incredibly
fortunate! Even now, as I write and as you read this,
millions of people all over the world live in poverty. Many
are ill, or illiterate, or trapped.

For all the joy I experienced this week, I was also
humbled. We owe it to ourselves, to our fellow travelers on
this small planet, and to history to do whatever we can to
"share the wealth." This week, reach out and give - give all
you can, then give a bit more than you think possible - to
help someone else. You'll get back far, far more!

3:  The Foundation for a World-Class Life

As this goes out on Sunday, about 40 of us will be heading
home from one of the most remarkable Conferences I've ever
seen. For three days we luxuriated in beautiful, historic
surroundings, ate and laughed and celebrated, and then we
conspired to make our lives even better! How great is that!?

One of the first and most inspiring things we noticed is
that "ordinary people" can and DO live extraordinary lives!
There is some strange myth out there (and yes, I sometimes
fall for it, too) that living a classy, rich and richly
satisfying life takes an unusual person, or requires
unusual talent or rare luck. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER
FROM THE TRUTH!

Anyone can live an amazing, rich and extraordinary life!
Henry Thoreau chose to live in a small cabin and raise
beans - and the world beat a path to his door. Mother
Theresa made a difference. Grandma Moses didn't start
painting until her 70's. Gandhi set a continent free, and
Martin Luther King, Jr "had a dream."

We all know people who have done amazing things. My friend,
Margo Chisholm is (pardon me for saying this, Margo!) a
perfectly ordinary woman in many, many ways. She's written
about her battles with drugs and alcohol, and as she got
sober she set a goal to climb the highest mountain on the
world's seven continents. She failed. She only made it to
the top of the highest mountain on six continents
(including Antarctica) and "only" made it to 26,000 feet in
two attempts to scale Mt Everest! Today she's a counselor
and coach and one of the most inspiring, remarkable people
I know.

We all know people, ordinary people, who live extraordinary,
World-Class Lives!

You have an Aunt who's love is legendary, or a neighbor who
built a business with "nothing" but an idea and hard work.
Every community has teachers who do incredible things and
volunteers who perform miracles every day.

Why not you?

Here's a thought that inspires and motivates me:

It is EASIER to live a great life than to live an ordinary one!

A simple, disciplined, organized life lived with integrity
and order and structure is both easier (less confusion,
less stress, less work!) and infinitely more rewarding than
the average life most people lead.

This weekend we've committed to eliminating the non-
essentials. We've thought long and hard about our values
and shaped goals that fit our highest aspirations. And
we've made tough decisions to eliminate the distractions,
to "just say no" to many of modern life's temptations to be
busy.

Remember Shakespeare's observation that much of life is
merely "sound and fury signifying nothing?" How many of our
errands, our committees, and our "have-to's" really signify
anything important?

Next week, I'll write about some of the principles for
building a World-Class Life(tm), but think about this: To
build anything new and magnificent, we must first "clear
the land." We must first tear down the clutter, remove the
stumps and rocks and litter that cover the landscape of our
lives. This week, think long and hard about what can be
eliminated from your life.

Here's a metaphor. We all have the potential to live
masterful, magnificent lives but many of us lead lives that
are like an old Rembrandt painting that has been covered
with years of film and dust and grime. At the moment, the
painting may not seem valuable, or even attractive, but
underneath it remains as vibrant as ever. To uncover your
magnificence, spend time this week wiping away -
eliminating! - whatever gets in your way.

Next week, we'll talk about principles for building your
World-Class Life
.

5. Strictly Business:   Your Most Important Investments

Most new businesses fail within 2 years, and one of the
most common reasons they fail is for lack of capital. They
simply run out of money.

Too often, a struggling company can't attract enough
customers, and they can't afford to advertise. They can't
hire and train great people, and without great people, they
can't provide superior service. It's a vicious cycle that
is far too common.

Fortunately, there is a way out that requires very few
dollars. Here are my suggestions for the most critical
investments every business MUST make to be financially
successful:

1. Invest in Yourself! This means investing in
professional skills, and in your personal development. Jim
Rohn says, "Invest more in yourself than in your career",
and I think that's solid advice. This means reading! It
means attending the best seminars, and talking with the
best people. Invest in yourself because the most skilled,
the most attractive and the most competent people are
NEVER unemployed.

2. Invest in Technology. You can not maintain a
professional practice without efficient tools! Streamline
and automate everything! A few dollars and a few days of
training to use the right tools will pay dividends for
years to come.

3. Invest in Communication. Unless you can communicate
efficiently with your customers, suppliers, colleagues and
staff, all the skills in the world mean nothing. You have
to explain. You have to answer questions. You have to calm
their fears, solve their problems, and provide value they
can understand. This means appropriate use of technology
(see above), and it means learning to work well with
people. Effective communication is essential.

4. Invest in Customer Care. A few customers well taken-
care-of, will provide all the marketing you need! Single-
vendor relationships are increasingly common, and a happy
customer who comes back, and who recommends you to their
friends, and asks for more and more of your services, will
make you rich. Extreme customer care doesn't cost; it pays!

If you have any money left over, advertise. If you want it
and need it, buy a new building, hire more sales people, or
up-date your equipment. But first, make the investments
I've listed above. They cost less, and the Return on
Investment is huge!

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!

#1 The Jim Rohn 2-Day Seminar!
This is Jim's first 2-day live event in three years!
       http://philiphumbert.com/go/jr.htm

After three years of anticipation - It's here! The Jim Rohn
Weekend Leadership Event (with special guests Denis
Waitley, Brian Tracy, Donna Krech and More)!

I had tickets to fly to Dallas for his last weekend
conference back in 2001, and at the last minute couldn't
go. I will DEFINITELY be in Anaheim for this one!

Jim Rohn is a gentleman, a scholar, a humorist and, in my
opinion, a genius. He's been one of my mentors for 20
years, and he's doing a rare weekend workshop in California
this summer. This is a rare opportunity to spend two days
focused on your dreams, your goals and your strategies for
creating the life you really, really want! They have
pricing from less than $400, up to a Platinum package with
all sorts of bonuses (including meeting with Jim!). The
dates are July 30-31. If you are serious about your goals,
I strongly urge you to attend! You can get more info and
register at Jim's website. Also, be sure to sign up for his
newsletter and look over his collection of books and tapes!
http://philiphumbert.com/go/jr.htm

"Thank the Lord it is finally here. I attended in Dallas in
2001 and have eagerly awaited the return of the 2-day
event. I would fly anywhere in the world to be a part of
this event. I will register next week; the only question is
how many friends, family members, or staff I intend on
bringing. Thank You." -- Darren Patrick (I hope you'll
join Darren and me to hear Jim Rohn this July!)

  #2 Think Right Now!
Get The BEST Audio Programs I've Found!

       http://philiphumbert.com/go/TRN.htm

Many of you have purchased his audio programs to increase
sales, lose weight, set and achieve goals or improve diet,
health and fitness and you know how good these are! My
clients turned me on to these CD's several months ago and
I'm incredibly impressed. I strongly urge you to jump on
this! Top achievers in every field listen to audio
programs. They imagine themselves winning, setting new
records and living the life they truly WANT, and they do it
by visualizing their victories in advance with the help of
Mike's programs. These are fantastic, both for yourself and
as gifts. Grab these!
http://philiphumbert.com/go/TRN.htm

   #3 The One Minute Millionaire
An "Almost FREE!" book, CD & Teleclass

This is one of the most impressive books and concepts I've
ever seen. The more I see the impact it's had on my
clients, the more enthused I become! Please, do yourself a
favor and buy the CD (for $11.95) and get the book and
the classes free! They don't even charge for shipping! This
truly is a magnificent deal and the two-books-in-one
concept is sheer genius. Do yourself a favor, buy this, and
buy one for a friend. Every teenager should be REQUIRED to
read it in high school - It's that good!

   #4 Got a Website?
        Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days, to check it out. Highly recommended!

7. Humor:    The Laws of Golf

With spring, comes golf. A wonderful, magical, infuriating
addiction for millions of us around the world. If you love
golf, and haven't read Michael Murphy's "Golf in the
Kingdom", I urge you to give yourself a wonderful treat! You
can get it at Amazon by clicking here.

Until then, here are some of Dolly Howard's "Laws of Golf"

LAW 1: No matter how bad your last shot was, the worst is
yet to come. This law does not expire on the 18th hole,
since it has the supernatural tendency to extend over the
course of a tournament, a summer and, eventually, a
lifetime.

LAW 2: Your best round of golf will be followed
immediately by your worst round ever. The probability of
the latter increases with the number of people you tell
about the former.

LAW 3: Brand new golf balls are water-magnetic. Though
this cannot be proven in the lab, it is a known fact that
the more expensive the golf ball, the greater its
attraction to water.

LAW 4: Golf balls never bounce off of trees back into
play. If one does, the tree is breaking a law of the
universe and should be cut down.

LAW 5: Every par-three hole in the world has a secret
desire to humiliate golfers. The shorter the hole, the
greater its desire.

LAW 6: Topping a 3-iron is the most painful torture known
to man.

LAW 7: Sand is alive. If it isn't, how do you explain the
way it works against you?

LAW 8: Golf carts always run out of juice at the farthest
point from the clubhouse.

LAW 9: All drivers, and most putters, are demon-possessed.
And, the more expensive the driver, the more insidious is
the demon inside!

LAW 10: A severe slice is a thing of awesome power and beauty.

LAW 11: Golf should be given up at least twice per month.

LAW 12: All vows taken on a golf course shall be valid
only until sunset of the same day.
