1. The One-Minute TIP

Highly successful people are not the rich, the famous, or
the lucky. Successful people, in my book, are people who
define what they really want, and take simple, specific
steps to get it. They take action! Very few of us will have
a miraculous, life-changing event. For most of us, life
changes in small steps that we take every day. To have and
live the life you really, really, REALLY want, define it,
and find the baby steps that take you in that direction.
And then, start walking!

2. Welcome Notes

One of the most impressive things about this year's WCL
Conference were the "break through stories," the times
"when it all changed." What I noticed were that almost all
of them involved either (1) a personal retreat - time away
to reflect and get perspective, or (2) attendance at a
personal development conference or seminar. Several people
talked about attending a retreat with Tony Robbins or Jim
Rohn (see below!), while others talked about a vacation, or
a wilderness hike or time alone when things got clear,
commitments were made, and life changed!

Those are exciting stories, and they can be OUR stories. I
believe in the power of "retreats" to "advance" our lives.
This year, take time for yourself. Get a cabin, visit
someplace you've always wanted to go, or attend the Jim
Rohn Weekend - I'll be there, and I invite you to join me!
http://philiphumbert.com/go/jr.htm

Finally, in the U.S., this is Memorial Day weekend and
especially this year it is fitting that we pause to
remember those who serve, and sacrifice, for our nation.
Yes, this is a time for picnics and barbeques and ball
games, but please take time to call a Veteran and say
"Thank you!"

3:  Three Keys For A World-Class Life

Last week, we held our annual World-Class Life(tm)
Conference in Wisconsin, and as you can imagine, it was
spectacular! I promised that I would send a tiny sample of
the principles we focused on during our time together. The
key, I think, is to imagine the life you truly want, and
then have the courage to begin.

Too often, I think we "settle" for less than life is
willing to give us. Too often, I get requests for coaching
that start with, "I've got a great life, but" and then they
describe the "but" in their life and the note ends with, "I
thought my life would be happier (or more exciting, or more
rewarding, or more successful) and I don't know what to
do."

I love those requests, because you CAN have the life you
really, really want!

This article is about the 3 keys that will show you the way.

1. First, define what you really, REALLY want.

Most people have never defined the life they truly desire.
They say they want "happiness" or a "great family life", or
a certain income or lifestyle, but there is a lack of
clarity and lack of focus to the definition. They have a
dream, but not a definition of the life they want.

And that's an essential distinction! There are two pieces
you have to really "get" about defining the life you want.
Let's look at them separately for a moment.

The first is be very specific. "Happiness" is a sensation,
an emotion, even an experience, but it is not a goal. The
same can be said of "success" or "peace of mind" or
"personal fulfillment".

To have the life you want, you must describe it in detail
and that involves hard choices, and it takes courage. Do
you want more money, or a less stressful job? Climbing the
competitive ladder may take you away from loved ones, or
require other sacrifices. What is it you really, really
want?

And second, it's critical to distinguish between a
lifestyle, and the life you really want. A new car, lots of
money, a big house and lavish vacations are nice, but most
people want those things because they MEAN something. They
expect that the money will make them feel a certain way.
What happens if you get the money, but still don't feel
"successful"?

The first step in having the life you really want is to
define what's most important to you. What brings you joy or
fulfillment? What fires the passion, the challenge and the
satisfaction in your life? How do you measure success?

2. The second step: find the smallest steps that will
take you toward your goal.

Why the "smallest steps"? Because people always look for
the big steps, the huge, dramatic life-changing solutions
that rarely work, and that we're afraid to take anyway.

Once you've defined the life you really want, take a few
minutes to create two important lists:

--- Find the 10 smallest steps that will move you slightly
toward the life you want, and write them down. You want
easy, "anybody could do these" steps! Write down 10
specific steps that are small enough that you can begin
them immediately!

--- Find 10 things that frustrate you and "prove" you are
not yet living the life you want. Again, look for the
small, daily distractions that bug you on a regular basis.
For now, just write them down. You'll eliminate them when
you decide the time is right.

3. The third: Take ACTION!

(You knew that was coming!)

Of course you have to take action! In the end, nothing
changes until you take action and start changing your life.
If you want more friends, take action! If you want more
money, ask for a raise, make more sales, invest more
effectively - take action! If you want a healthier, happier
family, schedule a picnic, go to a movie, stay home and
talk to each other!

5. Strictly Business:   Business Means Leadership

Sometimes I work with professionals, or with entrepreneurs
who want coaching to make more sales, or to work more
efficiently, but they aren't interested in the principles
of effective leadership.

What they don't realize is that success in any area
requires the cooperation, and participation of other
people. Small businesses need customers. Network
organizations require teamwork, training and motivation.
Professionals depend on the trust and confidence of their
clients.

Success is always about leadership!

John Maxwell has written extensively about the techniques
of effective leadership. Three of the most important are:

1. Competence. Successful leaders know their jobs and
they are very, very skilled. Professionals are often
insulted to be told they must get better at what they do
but the truth is that unless you have all the clients you
can handle, are earning all you want, and working only as
much as you desire, there are additional skills to master.
Leadership is about competence.

2. Credibility. Successful leaders earn our trust. Every
business decision is, in some measure, about trust. It's
obvious that we must trust our doctors, our lawyers and the
people who teach our children. But we also trust (or don't
trust) the people we do business with every day.

3. Congruence. Leaders "walk their talk", there is a
consistency to who they are, what they do, and how they
treat people. They don't hide behind a professional mask,
or have one set of values at work, and another in their
personal lives. Leaders are consistent and transparent.

To grow your business, think about your leadership skills.
If you lead, your customers, suppliers, employees and
colleagues will follow!

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!

#1 The Jim Rohn 2-Day Seminar!
This is Jim's first 2-day live event in three years!
       http://philiphumbert.com/go/jr.htm

After three years of anticipation - It's here! The Jim Rohn
Weekend Leadership Event (with special guests Denis
Waitley, Brian Tracy, Donna Krech and More)!

I had tickets to fly to Dallas for his last weekend
conference back in 2001, and at the last minute couldn't
go. I will DEFINITELY be in Anaheim for this one!

Jim Rohn is a gentleman, a scholar, a humorist and, in my
opinion, a genius. He's been one of my mentors for 20
years, and he's doing a rare weekend workshop in California
this summer. This is a rare opportunity to spend two days
focused on your dreams, your goals and your strategies for
creating the life you really, really want! They have
pricing from less than $400, up to a Platinum package with
all sorts of bonuses (including meeting with Jim!). The
dates are July 30-31. If you are serious about your goals,
I strongly urge you to attend! You can get more info and
register at Jim's website. Also, be sure to sign up for his
newsletter and look over his collection of books and tapes!
http://philiphumbert.com/go/jr.htm

"Thank the Lord it is finally here. I attended in Dallas in
2001 and have eagerly awaited the return of the 2-day
event. I would fly anywhere in the world to be a part of
this event. I will register next week; the only question is
how many friends, family members, or staff I intend on
bringing. Thank You." -- Darren Patrick (I hope you'll
join Darren and me to hear Jim Rohn this July!)

  #2 Think Right Now!
Get The BEST Audio Programs I've Found!

       http://philiphumbert.com/go/TRN.htm

Many of you have purchased his audio programs to increase
sales, lose weight, set and achieve goals or improve diet,
health and fitness and you know how good these are! My
clients turned me on to these CD's several months ago and
I'm incredibly impressed. I strongly urge you to jump on
this! Top achievers in every field listen to audio
programs. They imagine themselves winning, setting new
records and living the life they truly WANT, and they do it
by visualizing their victories in advance with the help of
Mike's programs. These are fantastic, both for yourself and
as gifts. Grab these!

   #3 The One Minute Millionaire
An "Almost FREE!" book, CD & Teleclass

This is one of the most impressive books and concepts I've
ever seen. The more I see the impact it's had on my
clients, the more enthused I become! Please, do yourself a
favor and buy the CD (for $11.95) and get the book and
the classes free! They don't even charge for shipping! This
truly is a magnificent deal and the two-books-in-one
concept is sheer genius. Do yourself a favor, buy this, and
buy one for a friend. Every teenager should be REQUIRED to
read it in high school - It's that good!

   #4 Got a Website?
        Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days, to check it out. Highly recommended!
