1. The One-Minute TIP

Everyone knows the saying that "a journey of a thousand
miles begins with a single step." It's true and has helped
millions of people get started. But the rest of the story
is that a journey of a thousand miles only requires that
you KEEP WALKING! It is not difficult or mysterious.
Success rarely requires unusual skill or special talent. It
only requires that, EVERY DAY, you keep walking!

============================================
2. Welcome Notes

I learned two vital lessons this week. First, I had the
worst cold I've had in many years. I was working hard and
having fun, but I wasn't sleeping, eating right or staying
balanced, and it caught up with me. Value your health!
Enjoy life and take your vitamins! Get plenty of sleep, and
take a day off once in a while. It pays!

Second, this week my web host had a glitch and for a while
we had no email. While I didn't miss my daily dose of spam,
it was frustrating to miss vital emails from friends and
clients. Fortunately, I had a "back-up" email account at
Yahoo! that was extremely helpful.

Redundancy is a good thing! Make a list of your most vital
tools - your computer, your car, your phone, whatever it
is - and have a plan for when you lose power or the thing
breaks down, or goes to the shop. Don't let the ordinary
glitches of life slow you down! Have "reserves" so you can
function and flourish even when the unexpected happens.

Finally, I hope our subscribers in the Northern Hemisphere
take note that the longest day of the year is this week!
Hurrah for summer! This weekend, we're going to the coast
to let Cody run on the beach and play in the surf. (He
needs a bath anyway, so what the heck, let him have some
fun!) Make sure you get a summer! Picnic or hike, play ball,
fly a kite, go the park and feed the birds. Summer is a
good thing - get out and enjoy it!

And to our subscribers down South, celebrate the shortest
day of the year and know that your spring is coming!

Finally, to everyone who responded to the special mailing
this week and will join me for the Jim Rohn Leadership
Conference, Welcome! I look forward to some time to get
acquainted with you, and to attending this wonderful event.
There is still room! If you haven't registered, please do so!

3:  Your Daily Success Formula

The longer I work with successful high-achievers and
frustrated under-achievers, the more convinced I am that
the differences are very, very small.

Yes, peak performers occasionally have unique skills or
talents, and sometimes they get lucky breaks, but mostly I
see that the differences between creating the life your
truly want and living a life of "quiet desperation" is
incredibly SIMPLE!

The problem is that the great majority of people who work
hard every day have never learned to combine the power of
CHOICE with strong BOUNDARIES.

You cannot do it all! You have only so much time and only
so much energy, and when they are gone, your life, and the
opportunities that come with it, are over.

High achievers learn to focus their time and energy on a
few specific items, and they protect those few choices with
clear, tightly-defended boundaries.

Here are three absolute essentials for peak performance.
These three "little" things make a HUGE difference and can
help you create the life you truly want!

#1  Decide What You WANT

This is critical. You must choose! We live in a wonderful
time when we can do and have almost anything we want. Every
day we have more choices than our grandparents faced in a
lifetime! If you do not learn to say a clear "YES!" to what
you want, and "NO!" to everything else, you are doomed to a
life of mediocrity. You are doomed to stress, over-whelm,
and frustration.

Decide what you want and say YES to it! Then, get very
clear about all the tempting things you will say NO to, and
stick to your guns. That ability to choose is what makes us
human, and it is the price of success.

#2  Set Rigorous BOUNDARIES

If you are available "24-7," you are doomed! If you allow
television and the telephone, email and the doorbell to
interrupt you, your life is out of control! That may sound
harsh, but it's true. Turn off your cell phone! Refuse to
answer email except during specific times. Close your
office door, build a hide-away office in the garage. Find
ways to do the things that are important to you without
interruption!

If you cannot focus and stay productive for long periods of
time, your odds of success are greatly diminished.

#3  Create and Use a DAILY SUCCESS SYSTEM

Every day, plan your schedule and stick to it. Develop a
short list of "daily essentials" and follow them without
exception. Make those sales calls, or work on your novel,
EVERY DAY. No exceptions!

In his memoir, "On Writing," Stephen King says he used to
tell interviewers that he wrote every day except his
birthday and the 4th of July, but that was a lie. In truth,
he writes EVERY DAY! He says they wanted a more interesting
story, so he told them he skipped two days a year, but he
never does!

If you want to achieve the kind of success that brings the
world to your door, do your work every day. Make a list of
a few things that support you, that move your forward and
do them as a religious practice, EVERY DAY!

4. Quotes of the Week

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of
choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a
thing to be achieved."
                                          -- Jeremy Kitson

"Motivation is when your dreams put on work clothes."
                                          -- Ben Franklin

"A dream is just a dream. A goal is a dream with a plan and
a deadline."
                                          -- Harvey Mackay

"Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the
key to unlocking our potential."
                                          -- Winston Churchill

5. Strictly Business:   Data Mining for Fun & Profit

We hear a lot about businesses "mining" their databases for
detailed information about our shopping habits. Sometimes
that can feel ominous, but it is an important reminder to
utilize the information that we already have, right in our
files.

My coach uses a database to send birthday and anniversary
cards to his clients. It's easy, automated, inexpensive,
and it builds tremendous loyalty. I really appreciate it
when he remembers me that way.

A friend runs a multi-million dollar enterprise and says
his most important tool is a 3-ring binder that he carries
everywhere. He has essential billing and inventory
summaries, customer records, and other critical data all in
one binder. And, it is ALWAYS in his briefcase. He loves
telling about contracts signed, money made and money saved,
because he had the information at his finger tips.

He's an expert at using critical data to build his business.

Every business needs a database of essential client lists,
marketing programs, and accounting data.

Unfortunately, too many businesses take them for granted.
They keep excellent legal or financial records, but forget
that those files also contain "hidden" data that can lead
to more sales, or reduce costs. Often, the data in your
files is the key to strengthening your most important
relationships, opening doors, and growing your business.

Get and use a great data management system! Understand the
golden nuggets you already have, and use them! It pays off.

Would you like coaching to build your business, increase
sales and make more money, while (probably) working less?

consultation to discuss the possibilities. Contact me at:

#2     Build Your Ideal Practice!
Workshops & Training by David Steele
         http://philiphumbert.com/go/ds.htm

My friend and colleague, David Steele, is the founder of
the "Relationship Coaching Institute" and "Building Your
Ideal Practice", and he will be starting a new series of
business building teleclasses in early July.

I know many TIPS readers would love to attract more
clients, build your revenue streams or expand your business
models with more online or passive revenue, and David is a
master at these things. I encourage you to check him out -
both to get more clients, and to see his masterful teaching
and watch how he builds his own business. You can do worse
than "learn from the best!"

He has several ways to sample what he does, and be SURE to
sign up for his business-building newsletter!

#3     Think Right Now!
The Best Tools for CHANGE I've Found!
          http://philiphumbert.com/go/TRN.htm

Many of you have purchased these audio programs to increase
sales, lose weight, set and achieve goals or improve diet,
health and fitness and you know how good they are! My
clients turned me on to these CD's several months ago and
I'm incredibly impressed. I strongly urge you to jump on
this! Top achievers in every field listen to audio
programs. They imagine themselves winning, getting new
records and living the life they truly WANT, and they do it
by visualizing their victories in advance with the help of
Mike's programs. These are fantastic, both for yourself and
as gifts. Grab these!

#4     Got a Website?
         Earn Passive Income!
         http://philiphumbert.com/go/1A.htm

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days to check it out. Highly recommended!

7. Humor:    Quips and Quotes Worth Pondering

Someone names "Helen" sent these to me and I hope you enjoy
them. I love this stuff, and maybe it's the summer, or the
elections or something, but I notice a lot less humor
floating around recently! Have you noticed that? Never pass
up a chance to laugh, or to share a chuckle with a friend.
And, to all of you who send me jokes and humor, Thank You!
"Bring it on!"

I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

If it weren't for STRESS I'd have no energy at all.

Whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't
have any film.

I always know God won't give me more than I can handle but
some times I wish He didn't trust me quite so much.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

If you look like your passport picture, you probably need
the trip.

Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of checks.

Some days are a total waste of makeup.

Chocolate chunk: A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.

Middle age is when broadness of the mind and narrowness of
the waist change places.
