1. The One-Minute TIP
To achieve your goals in the coming 52 weeks, know where
you want to go, and plan to persist. Plan to continue when the going
gets hard, to start over if necessary, and to celebrate small victories
along the way. Plan on rainy days and amazing "wins" – life is like
that. Persistence pays. And next year, your Thanksgiving will be the
biggest and best ever!

2. Welcome Notes
Our most exciting event this week as THANKSGIVING! We had lots of
turkey, stuffing, cranberries and too much desert! Mary even let me have
gravy! That’s a bit of a private joke, but one of our first fights many
years ago was an unfortunate Thanksgiving when Mary worked all day to
impress her boyfriend under the illusion (delusion?) that turkey and
stuffing can be eaten without gravy! Poor girl was just misinformed.
Fortunately, I corrected that error and had the good judgment to marry
her anyway.
Would it be too painful if I said, “It’s been gravy ever since!”?????
I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful day of thanksgiving,
love, good food and lots of fun.
In other topics, one of the BEST things this week was the response to
the MasterMind program I personally use. Over 673 people checked it out
last weekend! I hope you will, too.
Having a MasterMind Team of partners who support you, help with ideas,
offer encouragement and share their network of resources and tools is
one of the most powerful “secrets” the world has ever found! I’ve
belonged to MasterMind groups for over 25 years and there’s simply
nothing like it. I love the process my friend, Michael Angier, has put
together and strongly encourage you to check it out! (I hope to get to
know you on the calls!) The info is at:

3: For 573 Consecutive Weeks Persistence Pays Huge Dividends!
Eleven years ago this week, Mary left me home alone while she worked
Thanksgiving weekend at the local hospital. I was unsupervised (never a
good thing!) and I decided to start a newsletter. I sent the first issue
to 23 friends, and the rest, as they say, is history.
We’ve grown to over 36,000 subscribers and TIP's is one of the largest
coaching newsletters in the world! I love the feedback, the community,
and the opportunities it has created. Subscriptions are free, but it's
made me money, and it has provided motivation, insight, inspiration,
support and humor for thousands of people around the world. I think
that's a pretty cool!
I’m often asked why TIP’s has been so successful. I like to think the
writing is good, and that the price is right! And, there’s an old Woody
Allen quote that “90% of success is just showing up," and that counts
for a lot. I am incredibly proud of the fact that we haven’t missed a
single issue in 573 consecutive weeks.
Persistence counts!
In six short weeks, we’ll begin a new year. A key question is whether
you will make 2008 different, bigger and better than this one?
In 2008, you'll have 52 weeks to achieve whatever you wish. In 52 weeks
you can transform anything, from your weight to your personality, to
your bank account. You can change careers in 52 weeks. You can marry the
person of your dreams, or sail around the world in 52 weeks. What will
you do in the coming year?
Whatever you decide, you will have to persist. To change careers, you'll
have to make decisions, take risks, make mistakes, call some people,
start over, get training, perhaps move to a new community, be scared,
and celebrate 100 victories along the way. Through it all, you will have
to "keep on keeping on".
Now, I'm always in favor of working smart, and I love it when big things
happen in short periods of time.
But most of the time, successful people are patient, persistent and work
very, very hard. They have clear goals and know exactly what they want
to achieve. They plan well, and use efficient strategies. If things are
not working, they step back, re-assess and try another way. Always, they
"keep on keeping on".
For 20 years, Mary and I have used the time between Thanksgiving and New
Year’s to review and plan. During these weeks, we take time to talk, to
dream, to change our minds, to contradict ourselves, and set goals for
the coming year. We get confused; we get clear. We study what friends
and associates are doing, we ask family for input and ideas.
We juggle budgets, make assumptions, and dream. We sadly eliminate
wonderful ideas that don't fit, while adding ideas and projects that
"pop up" during the process. By January 1st, we have a map, a set of
strategies and specific outcomes to be achieved in 52 weeks.
It's great fun to dream and plan and strategize. It becomes a source of
laughter and inspiration and we look forward to it. That's the easy
part.
The hard part is keeping faith, week after week, and taking the daily
steps to get where we said we want to go. Which brings me back to
publishing TIP's for 573 consecutive weeks.
I had to develop a strategy and make it a habit. Fortunately, most
week’s it's fun and many weeks TIPS almost “writes itself.” Clients,
books, seminars and friends inspire the topics, I ponder them while
walking the dog or doing my daily journal, and then I sit down to write
a letter to 40,000 friends.
To achieve your goals in the coming 52 weeks, know where you want to go,
and plan to persist. Plan to continue when the going gets hard, to start
over if necessary, and to celebrate small victories along the way. Plan
on rainy days and amazing "wins" – life is like that. Persistence pays.
And next year, your Thanksgiving will be the biggest and best ever!

4. Quotes of the Week

while we live."

-- Sara E. Anderson"
"Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we
are responsible for who we become."

Be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; it's holy ground. There

5. Strictly Business: The Great Business Discovery of 2007
We are nearing the end of 2007 and one of the most important (and
profitable) investments you can make is to review the past few months
very, very carefully.
To an amazing degree, we humans are creatures of habit. We are great
examples of Newton's law that, "a body set in motion tends to remain in
motion." We tend to plunge blindly ahead, repeating yesterday's mistakes
and failing to learn from experience. Yes, we take great pride in
the fact that we "can" learn, but my observation is that we rarely do.
We assume that what worked yesterday "must" be the way to go next year.
Now, of course, we all know we shouldn't do that! We KNOW we should
examine our records. We KNOW we should be innovative, creative and
original. We know that, but do we do it?
When Jack Welch was the head of General Electric, he insisted that half
the company's profits come from products and services that were less
than five years old. Why? His focus was always on innovation because he
understood that yesterday's methods would never work in tomorrow's
world.
Take time - several hours, perhaps more - to carefully review the
following questions:
1. What worked best in 2007? What surprised me, inspired me or
taught me something new for my work or business?
2. What did not work, or is working less and less well? What was
less profitable or less effective than I expected? What should I drop
altogether in 2008?
3. What's new in my field? What are my colleagues doing that I
should apply to my business in 2008?
One of the absolute BEST things any professional, business owner or
manager can do is invest in seminars and conferences. The chance to get
away and "see the forest for the trees" is incredibly valuable.
Conferences generate new perspectives, and new ideas create vast new
opportunities! Invest in yourself!

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!
#1 Here is the MasterMind Program I Use!
Get the Support, Resources and Tools You Need
Achieve more – BE GREAT in ’08!
http://philiphumbert.com/go/diamond.htm
TIPS subscribers know the value of a small group of dedicated partners
who will support you, encourage you, hold you accountable, and most
importantly, help you ACHIEVE MORE! MasterMind teams succeed!
I’ve belonged to MasterMind teams for over twenty-five years and they
have helped me achieve more than I could have dreamed! MasterMind teams
have an energy and an “intelligence” all their own. If you are serious
about having and doing more, about achieving your goals and creating the
life you want, JOIN A MASTERMIND! I can’t be any clearer!
I’ve written a book about this (see below), and you can form your own
team, but why not join a program that has dozens of tools, resources,
audio recordings and partners already in place? Why “re-invent the
wheel?” I’ve known and worked with Michael Angier for ten years. I
belong to his “Diamond Club” because it works, and because it’s fun! I
hope you’ll join me! At least, check it out at:

#2 Use a MasterMind Alliance to Achieve Your
Goals
Get the Support, Advice & Encouragement You Need
We All Need a Little Help from Our Friends
http://TheNewMasterMind.com
Every winning athlete, and successful business person has a team of
experts behind them. How would you like a team of hand-picked advisors
committed to your personal success? What could you do with expert
advice, wise counsel, and a network of successful people at your
finger-tips?
Back in 1935, Napoleon Hill wrote that a “MasterMind” group was the one
essential behind every successful person he interviewed! And yet very
few people create a Mastermind team to help them achieve their most
important goals in life! Now you can! Most people “don’t know how” or
they fear they “wouldn’t know who to ask.” Now, I’ve written the manual!
I’ve create a “recipe” so you can create your own MasterMind whenever
you wish! I’ve included suggestions for where, when and how often to
meet. I’ve even included simple scripts to get you started. Check it
out!
If success is important to you, you MUST have a MasterMind group to help
you “get there.” Click for more info.

#3 Got a Website?
Earn Passive Income!
http://philiphumbert.com/go/1A.htm
Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me serve my
subscribers and make money from my website. None of them worked, or more
accurately they worked, but they were complex, confusing and didn't work
very well. Then I discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's
put together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and they let me
automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs and my shopping cart, with
no hassle! I love this! And, you can use it for 30 days to check it out.
Highly recommended!

7. Humor: If Dogs Were The Teachers
I’ve run lists very like this one a few times over the years, and it
always delights me. Of course, I love dogs and receive great joy from my
relationship with Cody, so I’m totally biased. Nevertheless, I do think
the world might be a better place if we considered the following. My
friend, Rita Haehnlein sent this to me, and I always appreciate the many
people who send me smiles via email! Thanks, Rita!
If dogs were the teachers, you would learn stuff like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Let fresh air and the wind in your face be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and
never hold a grudge! Run right back and make friends.
Delight in the joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle
them gently.
